Pensioners' Potter - 10:00 am Thursdays

These are off-road runs of about 1½ hours on Thursday mornings at 10:00 from different venues a few miles from Congleton - as shown below. All are welcome: you don't have to be a pensioner! Runs are led by Mike Laurence (01260-274239) or Austin Farr (01270-877846). If you’re not a “regular” it’s a good idea to contact one of us to make sure there’s not been a change.

Mar 13: Marshes Hill  SJ906545

A527 south.  1m after traffic-light junction at the south of Biddulph, turn left (45º, brown sign: Greenway Bank Country Park).  After 0.4m turn left, and follow for 1.5m (past CP and dam).  At 'T' junction turn right; after 300 yards left; after 100 yards left into parking area.

Mar 20: Chance Hall  SJ824592

Take A34 south.  After 3m, turn right into Chance Hall Lane.  After 0.6m park in small layby on RHS (200 yds after Chance Hall Farm (on right) and just before footpath signed to left).

A54 towards Buxton.  2¾m after A523 traffic lights, at Four-ways Motel crossroads, turn left.  After 1¾m turn 135º left.  After 250yds, by Gritstone Trail crossing, park on RHS.

Apr 3: Holehouse Lane  SJ829577

Take A34 south for 5¼m and turn right, about ½m beyond Little Moreton Hall, into Holehouse Lane.  After 250yds park in layby on LHS.

Apr 10: Gradbach  SJ998662

Take A54 for 9½m towards Buxton.  Immediately after sharp LH bend and just befor Rose & Crown turn right for 2m.  About 200yds after crossing R. Dane turn very sharp right (almost backwards) for 400yds to public car park on RHS (about 600yds before the Youth Hostel).

Apr 17: Scholar Green - The Spinney  SJ831558

Take the A34 to Scholar Green; The Spinney is the first road on the right after the Bleeding Wolf pub - about 200m south of it. Park a few metres into the Spinney.

Apr 24: Sparbent  SK002692

Follow A54 towards Buxton for 11m and park in long layby on LHS.  (2½m after sharp LH hairpin and Rose & Crown pub; green sheep pasture on LHS and Sparbent barn above).

May 1: Biddulph Grange Country Park  SJ891592

About 3m south east of Congleton on A527 Biddulph road, turn sharply backwards left up minor road.  Do not turn into Biddulph Grange Nat Trust Gardens, but follow the road for about 300yds and turn right into the Country Park car park.

May 8: Bosley - Lakeside  SJ917659

Follow the A54 towards Buxton.  After 4.5 miles at traffic light junction, turn right on A523 (towards Leek).  After 0.5 miles, turn left into Lakeside housing estate and park.

Top of Mow Lane.  Park at south end of bridleway leading to Congleton Edge

May 22: Dane Bridge  SJ965651

Follow the A54 7½m towards Buxton to cross-roads by Fourways Motel.  Turn right for 1½m and park near bridge over River Dane.

May 29: Rock End  SJ899567

On the A527, at the south of Biddulph, turn left at Knypersley crossroads (traffic lights).  After 1.2m, after road bends left at top of hill, take minor road to right and park.
